Right — I would have hoped a while ago already that we transcend past the notion of an endpoint device. A tablet, a laptop, or a phone should all just be entry points to access my one OS instance.
You could think this a bit further still, and have all kinds of devices offer an interface to nearby endpoints with a display or controls, establishing connectivity automatically.
Right now, Apple is the only vertical company out there at scale. Maybe one of the Chinese companies might eventually get there but who is this western company other than Apple? It certainly isn’t Google or Microsoft at this point their efforts are more halfhearted me-too products, and when I say hardware, I mean in-house designed and engineered hardware not buying it from somebody else.
It instills into you the arcane knowledge of how incredibly mundane and unremarkable sex with very beautiful people can be, given that they are also just normal people after all. I suppose. Then again, what do I know - maybe you'll awaken with the answer to everything on the spot?

That is a lost cause, because the AI companies are above the law now. Copyright doesn't apply to them, felonies committed by them (via their agents) are not prosecuted, and if the AI bubble were to burst, they would be bailed out because by now, all American pensions and the ETFs of the rest of the world depend on them staying fantastical capital black holes.
But what we still can do is stop programming for free for Big Tech, and this license at least gets us closer toward that goal.
That's a thoroughly uncharitable view. Especially in smaller orgs with a minimum velocity dictated by the company's need to survive, the amount of code required to be written just to keep up with your competitors is massive. Trying to review that all by hand, thoroughly, is draining, thankless, and tedious. You end up with a few fast movers producing most of the code, and some slower movers forced into a reviewer role they never signed up for. It's an unhealthy dynamic.
All of these are angles an AI reviewer can test for as well, and will (IME) mostly catch mistakes correctly. I also still manually review code, and usually also catch issues, but the severity of what I find shrinks ever further as agents get better.
The sprawling code comments are becoming the most draining part of code review though, that's really killing me from the inside.

No, none of today's AI would give you enough signal around "should this thing be built in the first place" nor if it's the correct solution on a high level.
They don't understand why you are doing what you are doing, and even if you explain it, they still don't actually understand the motivation and lots of other things.
You'll get them to do guesses and pretend they actually know how to prioritize and will tell you it makes lots of sense, whatever they come up with. But try following it blindly and you'll see where you end up.
This is why "one agent + one good developer" beats "thousands of agents working in a swarm" still today.
I don’t think I claimed agent reviews to be a panacea. It’s a tool that can help you lower the review pressure in companies working with agentic coding tools.

Which as I noted, is very far from the truth. I neither claimed that you said "agent reviews are a panacea", but when you claim "AI can solve all those things" and two of the first items cannot be addressed by AI (today), then I'm rebuking those specific things, not some other general point you implicitly made.

Where "mostly" means kind of what it says but also not really.
The AI review are still quite far from having the same level of critical thinking and high level knowledge of your application, what you have done in the past and want to do next etc.
If you don't master this for your own project, what's even the point of your job.
The point is that the image is composed in a particular way to appear entirely un-composed, spontaneous, but plays with that appearance. The artistic part of the image is that relationship between you, as the viewer, and the composition of it.
Sort of like a person with an amazing taste in fashion, dressing shoddily - but in such a camp way, it's very obviously purposeful in its shoddiness, making it a fashion statement again.
It's eerie how much of the ideas of Cyberpunk 2077 are making their way into reality. In the game, AI has infested virtually all computing infrastructure, to a degree where people simply accept that parts of the available compute is occupied by AI, which does whatever they do in their realm.
Isn’t this also the case in Neuromancer? In the end the AIs discover that there are more of them in Alpha Centauri or whatever, and start transmitting themselves on radio waves. Or something like that, it’s been a while.
