No, samizdat was not just about censored texts. The larger point of samizdat is specifically about viable ways to distribute your stuff even if it was not seen even by a single censor. It was even used for cooking recipes and fanzines.
The point is that in USSR it was not possible for an ordinary person to publish anything because the equipment and how to use it was a state secret tightly controlled by KGB. If you wanted to publish something you made and didn't have a cozy relationship with the communist party, samizdat was the only option.
I never saw where he claimed to be a professor and hedge fund manager, I just thought he used to work/teach and now makes entertaining videos.
Also as far as I remember (I wasn't yet watching back in 2020 so no comment on that part) it's pretty clear what he bases videos on, he specifically mentions the whatever FT article or book and I expect his script quotes a lot from them. I watch(listen) anyway because it's fun, easy to understand for laypeople and I'm not subscribing to FT/not buying a book anyway... Don't think I'll stop because of this

They used to do that in Phoenix. There were trees all along the canals. They replaced that setup with a solid uncovered concrete canal system. The issue with trees is that the roots will cause leaks in your canal.
Also take care to have trees close to a swimming pool, just like us, they won't say no to a free source of liquid, and many species have quite powerful roots.
Redoing swimming pools due to close by trees seems to be quite common construction work job.
Are you suggesting to plant trees in such a way that they can tap into the water stream they're meant to protect from evaporation? Doing the calculation on which of the two effects will outweigh the other would surely be a fun exercise.
You could! But this generates power and has the same benefit. Also you do not have to just do one. Plant trees in areas with denser populations and use solar panels when there are fewer people around and beautification is less of a concern.
I think you underestimate what a massive country China is and the scale of their military. Russia is already quite an adversary, but China is at an even higher level. By some metrics, they have already surpassed the US military.
So it is very unlikely that a neighbor will have the audacity to attack them, and even if this happens, i'd expect the war to be over rapidly. Just like if Canada or Mexico tried to attack the US.
I think the consensus is that Russia proved itself barely capable against just Ukraine. Also I didn't say someone has to attack prc, it's more likely to go the other way round and as many historic examples showed no matter how big you are people defending their home land will not make it easy.
The scenario we are all dancing around is if there is a war over reunification. That would be between the worlds two superpowers. No one would walk into a nuclear Holocaust on purpose I bthink, but miscommunication happens. Even if no other nations intervened, the reunification would definitely destroy all the worlds leading fabs, and even if it didn't, I read ASML can and would shut their machines down remotely. So those researchers would shift to figuring out what they can do at the 28nm node... Meanwhile the rest of us ponder why old powerful men can't let things be.
